THE SFV HYPE TRAIN CONTINUES...

"Pathetic...where is your Red Bull costume?"

Akuma is coming to SFV and all is glorious!  He who has slayed a god with his fists!  Gouki (Akuma), the supreme master of the fist has generated a much needed hype train for Street Fighter V.  We don’t even have a solid release date for the anticipated character, yet there are those already claiming he will save the game.  What we do know is that he will be playable at the Playstation Experience event in Anaheim, CA December 3rd-4th.  With this announcement, Capcom once again shows that despite its beleaguered release, (1.5 milli sold out of a projected 2 milli since March? YEESH!) they have a steady understanding of how to keep SF5 relevant in the public eye with DLC.

Eis, Eis, ein Baby!

Eis, Eis, ein Baby!

The latest buildup started a few weeks ago when the rumors started floating around about a possible future character to be released this winter by the name of Eisbahn.  Nothing has yet to be confirmed, and his only appearance is on an in-game movie poster in the background of the London stage.  But, if proven true this would be a fantastic Easter-egg!  With his name literally translating as “ice rink” in German, Eisbahn could be Street fighter V’s answer to Mortal Kombat’s own Sub-Zero.  And this began a steady slew of surprises, since essentially Urien was the last scheduled DLC Capcom had previewed after its launch.

In that time we have seen the Halloween DLC which includes a spooky Halloween themed stage and new skins for seven characters (the Necalli werewolf V-Trigger is awesome!), Rashid’s ‘Skies of Honor’ stage, Eisbahn rumors, Akuma’s tease, and two exclusive Red Bull costumes for Ryu and Chun Li  (Release those in the U.S. NOW Capcom!).  Dropping surprise characters, stages, and costumes are the type of content that will keep a fighting game alive for a long time, and it would seem that Capcom is embracing Street Fighter V’s future legacy as a DLC behemoth.
